Jeff arrived on island October 15th with plans to stay with a friend of our Grandad's, Marty (aka Party Marty). Within a few days, Jeff found jobs for himself and Kyle and an awesome apartment for the three of us. Kyle and I arrived on the 21st of October, after an unexpected night in San Juan, Puerto Rico. We were supposed to arrive on the 20th but our flight from Miami was delayed, therefore causing us (and about 20 others) to miss the connecting flight in San Juan. We were put on the next available flight, which departed at 10am the next morning. The airline put us up in a hotel for the night and gave us about $40 worth of food vouchers. Seeing as we weren't exactly sure where we were going to stay once we got to St Thomas, our delay was a surprise blessing from God :)
Jeff met us at the airport in the rental car and we headed straight to the ferry over to St John. Jeff found a used Jeep on craigslist and wanted to go take a look. We ended up not buying the Jeep but we did spend the day at Cinnamon Bay! Pretty good first day in the VI if you ask me.
Marty arranged for the three of us to stay at his friends Paul and Edythe's while we waited for our apartment to be ready. We spent the first ten days with them, learning our way around and getting used to driving on the left. We no longer have the rental car and are in the market for a nice working, used island car. It's interesting trying to get around without a car, not impossible though.
