do not drop

Diane got new bedroom furniture last week. She's been wanting this furniture forever and she finally saved up enough moolah to purchase it. The two nightstands arrived first and a few days later the dresser and mirror were ready to pick up from Pier 1.
Since my car is big enough to fit a dresser in, I had the honor of picking it up. Once I got home, Jessie, Diane and I unloaded it from my car...
we had a little bit of a hard time
once inside, we decied it would be easier to get up the stairs if we took it out of the b0x

it was like opening a Christmas present
then we decided it would be eaiser to carry if we took the drawers out.
we quickly learned they didn't come out.

so we thought about just keeping it in the doorway
there was pretty much no way we were getting that baby up the stairs. so we did what any girls would do.
we called the boys that live down the street

we were like a pitcrew team putting wheels on a racecar

after getting everything in its proper place, we had cardboard and styrofoam all over the place. so we packed it all in my car in search of a dumpster

luckily there's more town homes being built in Diane's neighborhood which means there are dumpsers scattered here and there.
Jessie helped me empty my car.
i wonder if the construction workers noticed anything different about the dumpster the next morning?
Thanks to Scott and Travis, Diane has new furniture in her room and I have her old furniture in mine (which is fantastic since I was keeping my clothes in piles on the floor and under my bed)!

sunny day, sweeping the clouds away...

Friday afternoon Jessie and I went to Cool Springs mall to do a little shopping. We found some great sales. We ended our shopping trip by going to Claire's so I could get my ears pierced! I felt like a little girl again :)

here we are playing dress-up...

Jess looks so cute in that hat

Jesse Rene would love this dress.

After our fashion show we went to Claire's.
I sat down, filled out the paperwork, and got my ears pierced!!
Jessie was there to document the occasion...

Our favorite purchase of the day was these sunglasses. They remind us of Sesame Street characters-- specifically Ernie for some reason.

pickin pumpkins

Dad and Jeff were here this past weekend. We all went to the pumpkin patch except it wasn't really a pumpkin patch, it was a farm that had piles of pumpkins to pick from.
I just want to pick a pumpkin. Is that too much to ask?
It's the little things in Maryland that I love and miss.

Nevertheless, here are some photos...

chasing squirrels

Today we celebrated Jake's birthday by taking a picnic dinner to Centennial Park. The Celebration of Cultures festival was going on so there was live music and lots of people. Because of the festival, there was no entry fee to the Parthenon so we decided to take a look. Here's what we found...

giant doors
a giant statue of Athena

After leaving the Parthenon, we walked around the festival until we met up with the Teller's to eat our picnic dinner. Our dinner menu included:
Turkey sandwiches
strawberries
coleslaw
potato salad
salt & vinegar chips
san pelligrino with lime
and rice crispy treats for dessert

amy grant and the homeless

This past Tuesday night I spent time with my good friend Brandon, Amy Grant, and some homeless people. There's a ministry that takes place under the Jefferson Street Bridge every Tuesday night that involves a time of worship and the distribution of food and clothing to the homeless. This week Amy Grant just happened to be the one leading worship, and she just happened to need a bass player. Good thing Brandon just happens to know a thing or two about playing the bass...

As I was walking around taking photographs, the woman in red came up to me and asked if I would take a photo of her and her friends. They will probably never see this photo.

Their joy amazes me.
